Green Tea

by Dale Ritterbusch

There is this tea
I have sometimes,
Pan Long Ying Hao,
so tightly curled
it looks like tiny roots
gnarled, a greenish-gray.
When it steeps, it opens
the way you woke this morning,
stretching, your hands behind
your head, back arched,
toes pointing, a smile steeped
in ceremony, a celebration,
the reaching of your arms.

  4. Lovely poem - makes me want to make some green tea, but I've just finished a light, mild cup of white tea. (I finally figured out the secret to both green and white is not using boiling water, and steeping them for a very short time.) My favorite green is one from the local Tea Source called Clear Mountain Water - best for the earliest of spring mornings. And may spring come soon!
