and so it begins
Every time someone says "show me your papers," Hitler’s family gets a residual check. So heads up, Arizona; that’s fascism. I know, I know, it’s a dry fascism, but it’s still fascism.--Seth Meyers
Very disappointed in you, Arizona...
Very disappointed in you, Arizona...
Very nice collage of words and images, my dear Distracted amiga.
ReplyDeleteJust had a conversation about this with a woman whose beau is tan man of the Mexican-DNA persuasion whose family has been rooted in the Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave by birth for 3 generations, works for the U.S. gov'ment, drives a Hummer wannabe, and cannot drive to a U.S. border town to visit his U.S. born, recently retired U.S. military, brother without getting pulled over going into, and out of town, for a lengthy interrogation...
Did I mention that the man in question had also been one of The Few. The Proud. The Marines?
I thought not...
Has America lost its plum-fooled mind??
ReplyDeleteLooks like at least parts of SB 1070 have been at least temporarily blocked...more news as it develops...
ReplyDeleteDitto!
ReplyDeleteThis is just the tip of the ice berg.
ReplyDeleteI'll not voice my opinion here but, oh, the winds of change are blowing...and on that wind, I can smell the death of a nation.
I hope all visitors feel they can voice an opinion here. My hubby's a lot more conservative than I am--we agree on very little, but are able to listen to each other...most days:>)
ReplyDeleteAn important post. My thoughts run right alongside Gail's horse there. I think we're done for. The Age of Greatness is over, in large part because we became too full of ourselves and now are making fools of ourselves in front of a world that, for the most part, revered or at least respected us in the past.
ReplyDeleteMy husband's conservative background is showing back up in his personality and causing problems for me. Some of the crap he talks about I simply will not listen to. It's vile and causes me to hate him. If I could turn back time I'd have a lot more questions to ask of him during those early days when my hormones did the communicating. As long as I'm in this situation, however, I'm using it to get a better idea of the poison others believe as truth. Granted, the man I live with is not listening to Glen Beck (is that the creep's name?) or Rush and he does not watch Fox (and if it comes to that I am out of here)...but he is an angry white professional male who could be a poster child for all the angry white males in this country who refuse to acknowledge (without a fight) that their time in the sun, their long run of "superiority" is becoming a thing of history.
p.s. I calmed down later on... :]
