Lifesaver For One Please
A trend we had started noticing in Neurodramaville--increase in patients with head injuries as a result of motorcycle collisions. With rising gas prices more folks are riding motorcycles. Unfortunately, they are not wearing helmets.
Head injuries--if survived--are catastrophic. Neurologically, physically, financially, and emotionally devastating.
With the base daily rate of an ICU bed at $2500/day a person can't afford not to wear a helmet.

And the rest of us need to share the road and play well with others.

(Honey-haired girl showed me once how to make a link = word, but I can't figure it out again.)
I totally agree with you. It won't be much fun to feel the wind through your hair if you are dead!
ReplyDeleteYou know, in New Zealand it's illegal to ride a motorbike without a helmet, push bikes are the same.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I would have been here if I hadn't been wearing one when the bike I was pillion passenger on hit a car at a rather high speed.
Email me if you're stuck with the links thing. I just sent my cousin an email about it and can copy and paste it to you too, if you like :)
I had my motorcycle license temps at one point, but, without constant access to a bike, never got enough riding time to get good enough to get the license. Might go for round 2 on this one, but always with a helmet.
ReplyDeleteAs for the word/link thing, shoot me an email some time and we can go over it - my real job is web developer. :)
