When We're Gone, Long Gone

Seems like there are a few who have suffered some losses during the past week or two. This is one of the songs performed by Kasey Chambers and Shane Nicholson at the Prairie Home Companion show last Friday night. It has stuck with me and thought it may help soothe some others.

please note: song written by Kieran Kane. This has also been performed (and not shabbily, mind you) by Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstadt

  2. It's such a soulful song. I don't think I've ever heard it before. We've had a lot of hospice loss this week too and though we expect it, sometimes it's hard to always be bearing witness.

  4. Dear Distracted, I liked your post from a couple days ago so much I went looking for these two, and posted another of their videos, Monkey On A Wire, day before yesterday, but didn't stumble on this one... they are a real pleasure to listen to, don't think I'd get tired of hearing them any time soon... this one is just gorgeous... thanks for that... how many songs were they able to do on the NPR show ?

  6. Sorry Owen, shopping for Hubby's BDay and Father's Day and wasn't online today or yesterday.
They sang Rattlin' Bones, Wildflower, I think another one that I can't pull out of my brain, and this one. Her dad played with them on one song. Interesting story--that family. Very odd upbringing.
You can hear the whole broadcast at http://prairiehome.publicradio.org/

And thanks, I'm glad you like these two. She has a great voice. Lot of range. Funny when she's talking with the audience.
