Zombie Chicken Award

I found out this morning that I was the recipient of this lovely and prestigious award courtesy of none other than our young star of stage--Georgie K. Buttons.

I'm usually very bad at the awards thing. Choosing only 5 out of so many interesting and well written blogs puts me in mind-spin angst and I end up making no decision. Images of being chased by zombie chickens however has forced me quickly to "cowgirl up."

The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken - excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all...

Having seen the cover of Pride and Prejudice and Zombies and not wishing to incur the wrath of zombie chicks I will pass this award on to the following blogfriends for their words of wit and wisdom:

VGrrrl,

Lydia,

Kathleen,

rudee,

and especially to Tess, who has learned the hard way how to pull a loved one from the depths of undeadedness.

If you love this award, I say steal it away and put it on your blog right up front and out loud where everyone can see it. You all know my opinion on the matter--All great literature can only benefit by the inclusion of zombies. Think Romeo and Juliet with a fabulous Bollywood dance ending with the undead in flowing tattered muslin gowns.

Thank you, Georgie K., and remember, we want lots of photos and details. Break a leg, grrrrlie, to you and your family and your little dog, too...

  1. Weeee-ewe-ooouu. That's my interpretative spelling of the sound people make about scary things. Thank you for this prestigious award. It means more to me than my drivers license meant when I was 17 (although I'm sure my parents were more afraid of me driving....as it turns out they should have been.....than I am of zombie chickens).

  2. Had you read DEEPLY into my archives, you would know that I live in a town that HAS zombie chickens, and I blogged about it 12/06! It's not in the title, so you'd have to do a search. (I just gave it a label of Zombie chickens)

  3. Zombie apocalypse--that was 2008 for me. I'm pleased to see the Zombie Chickens are ushering in a new era of peace and prosperity for me.

Many thanks from a Chicken Zombie Blogger.

  4. Hah:>) You guys make me laugh.

Silliyak--I don't know what the hell's wrong with me. I've not delved into your blog back to 12/06and I'm obviously much the poorer for it. Will get to remedying that el pronto if not sooner.

  5. I can't let this auspicious occasion pass without directing your attention to an issue that is riveting the good citizens and City Council of Salem, Oregon at the present time: whether or not to allow chickens in the city limits. Zombie Chickens everywhere are reading with great interest the BackYardChickens Forum.

  6. I'd thought of ignoring your comment today, but reconsidered. Thank you so very much for this auspicious and prescient award. I humbly accept. I just wish I'd worn my push up bra before I stepped onto this red carpet, but dammit, I couldn't find it. Please forgive my slovenly moving girl appearance at this award ceremony. I'm just praying I don't make the "What Was She Thinking?" category in the National Enquirer. If I do, I think I'll blame the chicken zombies.

  7. I want to thank my director, my agent (ha!), my mother, father, Mr. B, my sons, daughter, dogs, cat, seedlings, and dust bunnies for this award. It could not have come at a better time...chicken zombies make working in the field of avian flu far more interesting. I wonder if my boss will let me post it on my work Web site? Oh skip it; it'll just be out little secret. Thank god I can spend more time blogging now so I can stay one step ahead of the fine-feathered fiends!

  9. Dear Distracted by Shiny Objects,
I'm still rather new to the blogging scene. The day before I read this post, I decided to feature your blog in my Thursday Night Blog Review. Though not as cool as a Zombie Chicken award, I hope you'll appreciate my noting A Tidings of Magpies in my Thursday Night column. My blog is called Electra's Rough Draft; I journal the process of being a first time blogger and I celebrate the talented people who inspire me. I also mess up, especially with html. Last night I gave up when my BlackBerry froze once too often and I do hope I can get this to you today! Happy belated Thursday Night!
