Welcome To The Club, Gals.

Wish I could tell you how many times Barbie accompanied us to Sunday mass clutched in the small hands of a much younger College Grrrl. No matter what ensemble she arrived in, by the time communion rolled around Barbie was buck naked. So off we'd go, waiting our turn to the front of the line--me holding a little Grrrl who's carrying Naked Barbie and offering her to the priest. He blessed them both every time, although sometimes half a smile snuck by. Happy 50th you old broad. I'm putting some money down on how long those outfits stay on.

  3. lol, cute. I used to love Barbie when I was little. Then as an adolescent I began those horrible biological experiments on the poor girl.

  4. those are some snazzy Barbies. I love that Barbie got a blessing-and wasn't excommunicated for her lack of dress.

  7. Yeah well, you can all wish Barbie happy birthday but I'm pissed at her for not hinting back in the 60s just how much of a classic she would become...or else I never would have given all those dolls away to nieces! Who knew?

  8. Gosh. I should buy one of those $3 commemorative Barbies for my mom...

  9. Even though my butt is the size of 350 +/- barbie butts, I have ever felt inferior...She has never let me down in the 50 years we have spent together. She showed me that you don't need a man to have a great car, a swingin' pad and cool shoes....And, that the man you date could be even better if he dressed well....

  10. And then there was the Barbie beauty shop where she got a multitude of hair cuts------bad hair cuts.
    Happy Birthday indeed!

  11. I often wanted to take Barbie to mass with me, especially Ballerina Barbie, but my parents wouldn't let her go. Kudos to your parish priest for extending a blessing to Naked Barbie!

  12. Hey! I'm younger than Barbie (barely)! Found you through Blogs of Note, have lurked a bit--love it! Had to laugh at the naked B-girl in church; my CG used to take the heads off (we think it's genetic as her father's sister did the same--just warning you).

  13. Loved this bit, lol. I am new to this bloging world. I have a site about our adventure in building a new house, interior, and landscaping, and what ever else suits my fancy.
